The Team.
Matt Diekmann, a California native, brings 20 years of industry experience buying, selling, tasting and pouring excellent wine to customers, diners, and friends. He has worked in some of the most fabulous restaurants in Boston, including Olives, Neptune Oyster and Lucca (North End) where his experience grew from bar back, to bar manager, to restaurant manager. After a devastating motorcycle accident in 2021, the time came for him to go out on his own, and the Bottega offered an amazing opportunity to express his developed experience and joy of sharing fantastic wines while showcasing quality vineyards from around the world.
Jill’s passion for wine began as all things should - organically with friends, sitting around a dinner table. She began working at Vinum Wine Shop while completing her Bachelor’s, before moving on to Malden Center Fine Wines as Wine Manager. Jill recently earned her WSET III (woohoo!!) in Wines and could not be more thrilled to now be in the heart of the North End working with wines she believes in. We are so excited to welcome Jill to the team.
Ani Ajemian, a Boston native and Matt’s partner, works in-house as an attorney in Boston. Ani was a devoted customer of The Wine Bottega when she lived in the North End for 12 years - where she and Matt met across the bar up the street at Lucca.
Her passion is to build her own wine expertise while being part of the legacy of community, friendship and love that has developed organically over the years at The Wine Bottega.
Minster, a/k/a “Mins” the shop cat! Mins makes appearances during winter months (when the door is securely closed). She has no interest in wine, but does love treats and attention so be sure to say hi :)
