2010 was definitely the year of Sicily for us at The Wine Bottega and much of that is due to the efforts of this woman.  The brilliant, beautiful and talented Arianna Occhipinti has already reached legendary status in her mere five vintages as a vignaiolo.  Located in the southwest corner of Sicily, in the town of Vittoria, her tiny biodynamic farm is a veritable hotbed of avant-garde winemaking, combining both the knowledge and experience of centuries old tradition with more modern, Burgundian winemaking practices.  The SP68 is a new wine from Arianna, one which looks to the classic Cerasuolo blend of Nero d’Avola and Frappato (local, indigenous varieties) but is released very young to showcase the youthful vibrancy of the wine.  This is an extremely limited production and one that we have been anticipating with great excitement.  The perfect red wine for seafood!
